Bio
Shalev Ben-Avraham is a trial attorney at Dischley Law known for tenacious, no-nonsense criminal defense and relentless courtroom advocacy. He brings years of hands-on experience defending individuals facing serious criminal and traffic charges throughout Northern Virginia, with a reputation for thorough preparation and fearless litigation.
Before joining Dischley Law, Shalev served as a Senior Assistant Public Defender, where he handled a high volume of contested cases and regularly tried matters involving significant liberty interests. That background shaped his approach to defense work: prepare every case as if it is going to trial, challenge the government at every step, and never lose sight of what is at stake for the client.
Shalev earned his Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law, where he developed a strong foundation in trial advocacy and criminal law. While in law school he was a member of the prestigious Jessup Moot Court team, he finished as the 6thbest speaker in the world during the 2011 tournament. He further refined his skills through advanced trial-focused training, emphasizing persuasive storytelling, cross-examination, and strategic decision-making in the courtroom as a graduate of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College. In 2021 he was selected by the Judges of the Prince William County Circuit Court as the Trial Attorney of the year. Finally, he was a faculty member for the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission’s newly hired Public Defender Boot Camp, and their Shark ATAC (Advanced Trial Advocacy Class).
At Dischley Law, Shalev is a hands-on advocate who believes that strong defense work is built the traditional way: preparation, discipline, and the willingness to stand firm when the pressure is on. He approaches every case with intensity, precision, and an unwavering commitment to protecting his clients’ rights, freedom, and future.
